And Three More Are Safe

May 25, 2012 by Animal Resources

Today I went to Devore to rescue a little Shih Tzu from the shelter that they were bound and determined to kill. Well I guess they are going to get their wish. They plan on killing him on Monday even though a rescue wants him. They just can’t get enough of the killing. Makes me so sick. I am sure it’s the same mindset that the concentration camp guards had back in the 30’s and 40’s, got to be related in some way. How they can live with themselves is beyond me. Well at least I pulled 3 out of their grasp today. It means a lot to them. It means a lot to me. Not so much to the ones who didn’t make though.

And We Became Friends

May 24, 2012 by Animal Resources

I was asked to help capture 4 dogs that did not want to be captured in South L.A. They had taken up residence in an open field that is to be used for a carnival on Saturday and they had to go. Animal Control had planned on taking them all to the shelter for immediate killing as these were strays and that’s what they do.

I arrived at 7:00 a.m., went into the field and came upon Charlie. Not aggressive, but protecting his home was definitely on his list of things that were important to him. We stared at each other for a while and he warned me off many times, but I was determined that we were going to be friends. It took him about 30 minutes to approach me then I slowly slipped a lead on him and we walked back to the van. He loaded fine after he felt comfortable with all that was going on. I took him to boarding because he needs to be check by the vet before going to rescue. I will be going back on Saturday to try for the others. We’ll see how it goes.
