Animal Transport

While we stopped documenting the stories of our transports in 2016, we continue to work directly with rescue organizations in getting animals out of high-kill shelters.

6 Dogs, 3 Rescues, 2 Shelters

April 5, 2014 by Animal Resources

Today I pulled and transported 6 dogs from 2 different shelters for 3 different rescues. Does it get confusing? Not really as long as the rescues work with you. Four dogs, were, of course, on their last day. Two were much in demand English bull dogs, that I will never understand why nobody claimed at the shelter, sisters and just so sweet. The two chihuahuas couldn’t have been more different. One sweet, the other very afraid and bitey. The poor cocker was just there being a cocker, not paying much mind to anybody. I know he was depressed and didn’t understand a thing about what was going on. It never ceases to amaze me how the dogs get through all the stress and confused feelings they must have. They handle it better than I would.

Three Strikes And You’re Out

April 1, 2014 by Animal Resources

Today I pulled poor Bella from a shelter who had twice adopted her out. Both times she was returned to the shelter, but not her fault. Landlord disputes, and wrong dog for person, and back she went. This shelter doesn’t do it a third time, she was to get no more chances. So she was listed rescue only and I got a call at 9pm in the evening, “Can you go pull her tomorrow. It’s her last day”. Of course I will. No dog deserves to die in any shelter, and especially for faults out of her control. Now she is safe and off to a good rescue that will take the time and find her a home of her own. And I bet she never will come back again.
