Animal Transport

While we stopped documenting the stories of our transports in 2016, we continue to work directly with rescue organizations in getting animals out of high-kill shelters.

An Aussie And A Tri-Pod

July 17, 2014 by Animal Resources

This morning I was out to a high desert shelter picking up two very different dogs. The little Pom was to be killed at the shelter yesterday and I pulled her with 26 minutes to go before her big date with the needle. As she only had 3 legs (tri pod) I guess there was no interest in her. She is now on her way to a very good home and I know will get all of the attention she will ever want. I believe she has found her forever home. I also picked up the Aussie for a rescue that wanted her in Santa Barbra as soon as I could get her there. Well I got her there and it was into the wash tub for her first thing. She was a little skinny, and I know food will be waiting for her after a thorough bathing and grooming. In the area that she is now in, I don’t believe she will go hungry again. Home sweet home.

From A Hoader To Where?

July 12, 2014 by Animal Resources

Today I pulled 8 dogs from a shelter that just took in 50 from a hoarding situation out in a high desert community. Now that a rescue has taken them in and has started the vetting, cleaning and grooming, they will also start with baby steps on their socialization process. These guys have had very little in the way of contact with people; as of right now, these little guys are scared and stressed out with all the changes in such a short time. It will be weeks before they settle down and can begin the process of trusting someone again. This is all part of the high price that dogs pay when put in these situations they never asked for. In the meantime, rescues keep dealing with the aftermath.
