Animal Transport

While we stopped documenting the stories of our transports in 2016, we continue to work directly with rescue organizations in getting animals out of high-kill shelters.

6 Saved, But They Killed One

July 24, 2014 by Animal Resources

Went to a shelter to get seven and was told one had been “euthanized”, code for they killed him. They make it sound like he went out for an ice cream. Why can’t they say “we killed him”. Don’t try to clean it up. It sucks no matter how it’s said. Dead is dead. Anyway I got these others out at the last minute, so at least that’s a save in my book. All were sweet, they just wanted to be out. I would too if I had to live under the knife 24/7. Just another day paddling upstream.

The Three Amigos

July 23, 2014 by Animal Resources

I picked these three up at a shelter and off we went to boarding where they will spend 3 hours before loading on a northbound transport. Shouldn’t really call it boarding, more of a way station where they will wait out a few hours. They were very attached to each other and I know they will get separated and go to different fosters, but it’s nice to think that maybe at least two might be together. For them I hope so. I know it won’t be long before they will find their forever homes and all this will be just a dim memory, I hope so at least.
