Animal Transport

While we stopped documenting the stories of our transports in 2016, we continue to work directly with rescue organizations in getting animals out of high-kill shelters.

Adopt From Rescue Me!

Rescue Me helps people adopt animals from individuals, families, shelters and rescue groups.

We’ve pulled or transported over 3500 animals since 2012 in support of our rescue partners. Scroll down to read the stories behind transports from 2010 – 2016.

A Busy Day

October 3, 2014 by Animal Resources

Today was extra busy, starting 2:30 in the morning. Why so early you might ask? Well if you have to drive some place and have 5:00a.m. pickup time, you need to start early. At the 5:00a.m. place I had to get 7 dogs loaded and be on the road no later than 5:30a.m. We did it and I made flight time at 7:30a.m. with room to spare. After checking these guys in and making sure they were all settled in for their flight, it was off to another shelter. I pulled this pittie plus four more, but I turned over those four to another transporter to be taken to the boarding facility. The pittie went with me and was delivered to a no kill shelter to be fixed and readied for adoption. A lot of lives saved is what makes it so worthwhile. And easier to get up early.

And They Were Scared

September 29, 2014 by Animal Resources

Yep, they were more frightened than normal coming out of the shelter today. Don’t know why, but I am sure it has to do with the warm and fuzzy place they called home before. If it can be called that. It would break people’s hearts to see some of these dogs when exiting the shelters, not that the shelters are bad themselves, just so over whelming to the dogs. All the strange sights, sounds and smells. It’s just terrifying to some. On top of that, if they came from an abusive or neglectful background, that just compounds the problems. Sometimes it can take weeks at a foster’s home to get them somewhat acclimated to people again. And sometimes they can’t undo the damage done to them. But the fosters and rescues continue to try, one dog at a time.
