Animal Transport

While we stopped documenting the stories of our transports in 2016, we continue to work directly with rescue organizations in getting animals out of high-kill shelters.

Bath Time!!!!

May 8, 2015 by Animal Resources

I believe we would all agree that Coco needs a bath and grooming and a proper vet checkup as only the beginning of her long road ahead to finding a forever home. See, Coco was going to be killed by the shelter because she is bitey and has not had much socialization in her life. Most likely, she was kept in the back yard and no one paid much attention to her; and I bet she didn’t pay much attention to them either. But this is exactly what happens with no human contact: you get a mostly feral dog. That being said, she is on her way to a great rescue who will do all the work it takes to turn her around. It’s one dog at a time.

Forgotten, But Were They?

May 4, 2015 by Animal Resources

Today I pulled these four from a shelter that not many rescues pull from. If we didn’t get these dogs out, they surely would have died if not today, then maybe tomorrow. I try to pull mostly from the way out shelters that nobody goes to and that are not supported by numerous rescues or have a high adoption rate. Others can go to the high traffic shelters and argue over who they will save today and who might be saved tomorrow. I just go and get what we can and vet them and get them ready to go to good rescues that want good dogs; dogs who wouldn’t have had a chance because no one knows about them. The dogs just die in these out of the way places, where no thought is ever given to their rescue. Just a few at a time is all we can do.
