Animal Transport

While we stopped documenting the stories of our transports in 2016, we continue to work directly with rescue organizations in getting animals out of high-kill shelters.

Thinking Of What?

August 5, 2015 by Animal Resources

I pulled this pup from a shelter for a rescue today; he didn’t stand a chance of getting out as there was no interest in him from anyone or any rescue. Then by chance someone called me and wanted him. Yes, he had medical issues that were easily corrected and these were known to the rescue. Well, anyway, off to the shelter we went and he was pulled and this photo was taken within a few hours of his release. First time seeing the ocean, maybe even playing with a ball, must have made an impact on his thoughts, as he just stopped and looked and maybe wondered what lay in his future. We cannot predict what may lie down that road, but I am certain it will be much more than even he can imagine.

Yep, That’s Roy

July 27, 2015 by Animal Resources

Today I pulled Roy from a high kill shelter, where we waited 2 hours for the vet staff to say, yep medical waiver, so we won’t fix him. Of course its 95 degrees out, no shade, so we just waited. That’s the problem with most shelters, they are not user friendly to either the public or rescues. Some are better than others and will do all they can to get a dog out before it’s needle time, others, not so much. In rescue we just bite the bullet, do a work-around and put up with their bs so we can get the dog out and to safety. We got Roy out and safe and already vetted; soon he will start training and that will determine where he goes later. For now he will rest up before beginning the next leg of his journey.
