I thought I was done on the day before Christmas Eve since some of the shelters were closed and others had very limited opening time on Christmas Eve, I didn’t think there would be any calls that day. As usual, I was wrong. I received a call from a rescue I had dealt with before wanting a dog out of the South L.A. shelter. Ok, except they’re closed. I would try and get someone on the line if possible and see about a pull later in the week. I gave the staff her number and since she had medical issues they would waive her spay-neuter until 30 days. Would I come and get her now? I had to check with the rescue and they said yes, so off to South L.A. I went. I pulled her and down the road we went to meet up with her rescue and do the hand-off, Then she was on her way to new home and a much better life than she had previously. As you can tell from the photo, she was and had been neglected. I bet she only weighed 5 pounds wet. The two other photos are her at her rescuers house later in the day, not as stressed.
More Puppies, More Puppies
I don’t usually pull from the Lancaster shelter, not only because the staff is horrible, but some of the rescues that “own” that shelter, for want of a better word, suck. But I did today because the owned rescues were too busy with whatever to pull these guys for a great out of state rescue and they were going to die. Well I couldn’t let that happen, so I went to Lancaster and pulled them and placed them in boarding for the rescue, until they can be vetted and meet up with the transport going north. All in a days work for our fur babies.
