This is the transport of Annabelle and Sondra, two very lucky young ladies. Sondra, the light colored one is very much a ham. She is so lovable, just wants to be in your lap. She doesn’t like getting picked up, just goes all limp in your arms and she weighs a good 65 lbs. Annabelle, on the other hand, is all over the road. She couldn’t wait to get in the truck and sniffed and sniffed all over. Remember they have never seen anything like this. All is so very new. She almost manage to make it inside and with a little help, she finally did. Sondra will be very missed by her foster and she did an excellent job of taking care of her. Thank you Kim for all you did. Sondra will never forget you. And we will never forget her.

Cody - July 25, 2011

This is the story of Cody. I received a call from a rescue in Washington (Puget Sound Rescue) that I delivered 4 dogs to last month, and Barb was very interested in Cody. Now Cody was set to be killed by Friday if no rescue stepped up for him. Please remember Cody is 13 yrs old and has a cyst on his butt that must be removed fairly quickly and the rescue is planning on doing that when he gets fixed. They only want to knock him out once and do it all at the same time because of his age. Well I go down there on Friday to get him and they won’t release him. Need to see the Vet. Come back on Saturday. Ok, I come back on Saturday and the vet isn’t in. Come back Monday. Ok we can do that. Remember this cat and mouse game is keeping Cody alive. If no interest in him, he would have been killed. It’s that simple and brutal. I came back on Monday, oh you don’t need to see the Vet, we will just release him to you. Ok, why couldn’t this have been decided on Friday? Well anyways I pulled Cody and took him to El Segundo to a wonderful person named Helen, who just adored Cody and as you can see he wasn’t to stressed about the whole deal. Since Helen is a temporary foster, we are working on getting a transport to the Seattle area for Cody and then we can get him adopted to his final home. All in a day’s work. And what does Cody do doing all this….sleeps……got to love 'em…..

The Dozier Transport - July 20, 2011

Dozier is a very big guy, weighing in at 93 pounds, but what a love. Got to the vets office, where he had to wait for transport going to Washington. He was in everyone’s face, just wanted to play and play. Probably from being caged at the shelter for a while, he had so much pent up energy. Whoever adopts this boy is getting a real dog. So lovable, yet so careful in dealing with the ladies. Very gentle in his touch. Almost like he really knows just how big he is. I am sure he will go to a very special place. He has a lot of love to give.

The little guy is named Teddy. He is in a lot of pain and doesn’t like to be handled as his skin is rubbed raw from the mange (non contagious type). He still was a very happy little guy and so much wanted to be in your face. He is from the Lancaster shelter, where he wasn’t being treated for his condition, so a really nice person (Patricia Requal) had him move to a Vet in the Los Angeles area so he could get the medical attention that he so desperately needed.

This was another batch of fuzzies that I pulled from the Ventura County Animal Shelter and drove north to Lemoore, CA so they would stand a chance at being adopted. There were seven this time and some were so cute. There were terriers, cockers, chi-chi, silkeys, and poodle mixes. They didn’t stand a chance here in Camarillo and would have died the next day if we hadn’t moved them.

This transport was the really touchy one.

Both of these girls were evidence dogs in an animal cruelty case in Bakersfield. As you can see they have been starved and are very sick. Lucy (black) may have distemper and Daisy (tan) has parvo. I was ask to go to Bakersfield and transport them to a Vet in La Pauta, near Baldwin Park. If these little pups haven’t gone thru enough, then throw the sickness on top it will be amazing that they make it. A big thank you Patricia Raquel for organizing this effort to save these little guys.

July 19 update:
Sadly to say, Daisy, the little brown one didn’t make it. It was so sad because she tried so hard. But when you starve and don’t treat a puppy for what afflicts them this is the result. She was so sweet and all she wanted was to be held. I don’t think in her short life she knew much kindness or love. How people can be so uncaring and unremorseful is beyond words. And yes I know we see it every day, but it never gets easier to deal with. As far as I know, Lucy is doing fine and should make a full recovery. Lucy was not in as bad of condition as Daisy and is expected to make a full recovery, it will be slow but sure.

Brownie Troop - July 9, 2011

This is Captain and Lucy, rescued from the Ventura County Animal Shelter in Camarillo. You have to look close to be able to tell which is which, may look like siblings, but they are not.

Captain has been described by the shelter staff as absolutely the best dog ever. Now this is from people that see hundreds every week, so that says something. Absolutely awesome is how he was described. Whoever his new owner may be, they are truly blessed by adopting this fella.

Lucy is another story, she is going for more training before she can be adopted to a single dog household. Lucy it seems doesn’t like other dogs. Doesn’t know doggie etiquette, and doesn’t know her place in a pack. Again proper training at a younger age may have avoided all this, but it was not to be, so off to school she will go and we all hope she at least learns to tolerate other K9s as well as she does peeps. Good luck Lucy.
